This is what the devs promise us.
Quick Leveling and Long Life after Upgrade
Ask any MMORPG expert what is the main weakness of his or her favorite game type. You will get approximately the same answer: anticipation of happiness is almost always better than the happiness itself. In other words, the hardest period is when you reach the highest level and you have basically nothing to aspire to after that. What can you do when your character's leveling reaches the limit? Kill other characters; visit cool places; go to dungeons; slay dragons; win cool stuff which you eventually need in order to visit cool places, go to dungeons, etc.. In other words, it is a vicious circle, and game developers do not provide a way out, and you cannot break it even when you get skilled beyond your wildest dreams. Sounds familiar? The W.E.L.L. Online is built on an entirely different principle. Unlike the usual MMORPG's where most of the time is spent on leveling your character, in our case it happens VERY VERY QUICKLY. But after that a whole endless range of possibilities opens to you.

I wonder what they mean by this?
It could be that the game is largely community driven. They seem to indicate that it won't be a case of pvp or raiding but what does that leave for endgame? Are the day-to-day activities provided by the developers or ourselves. If done well, sandbox gameplay is fantastic - look at EVE Online.
Maybe the organisations system holds a clue - you will be working for them (i.e. grinding faction). This won't necessarily mean killing mobs but doing things like stealing, solving crimes etc. Perhaps the goal will become to increase your "personal mass" instead.
This is the most mysterious aspect of the game and one of the most important - it would be good to know we won't get bored too soon.

exactly mate - the organisations provide endgame content: mafia versus police, army versus enemy army in the borderlands, trade or craft corporation versus other corporations, religions versus each other and so on... These folks are trying to build a real "living" player driven world

yeah if someone can speak Russian please translate some of their posts and talks on the leveling system. as long as its fast I'm pretty happy with whatever. sounds like this game for sure not going to be jsut another EQ-clone. finally!

i absolutely love the sound of this
i realize people have said stuff like "leveling is there to learn how to play"
well i for one feel that it doesnt take months to learn
im so glad a game finally came around!

I'm in two minds about levelling.
On the one hand there's something like Ryzom where it could take such a long time to get to max level in a branch that it was easy just to go along for the ride and not worry about it. Also, because there were 250 levels instead of 50 it was easy to get that 'just one more level' in an achievable timespan.
On the other hand there are games with shorter routes to max level, WoW for example. In that case it does become more of a race to get to the endgame content. You're either max level or you're not.
I do prefer games where you naturally get better with time and practice, without having to think about it. This is as much to do with the method for gaining levels - if you're doing 1000s of quests then it's on your mind more than killing 10,000 mobs.
Hopefully WELL will have the best of both worlds - the initial enjoyment of quests we all feel in the first few weeks before 'quest grind' sets in, followed by long time-scale gameplay where you can feel your slowly approaching your goal with a massive sense of achievement when you attain it.

I like the Idea that the winner will be only one. It adds competition to the game... And also it brings to mind the "Highlander" movie with it's slogan "There should be only one"
