Energy halberds
On the one hand Energy halberds symbolize law and order in WELL online since they have been traditionally used by the city guard but on the other mercenaries and rogues of all kinds have also found a liking for this kind of weapon. In fact matter who wields it it's effectiveness is not to be doubted.

Legend has it that the very first Energy halberds have been forged by Tenki weaponsmiths as a means to effectively combat the Arraun. The lightweight tenki blades were no match for chtin armor of the arraun and so they have decided to attach a heavier blade to a long staff and imbue it with magical forces. This weapon proved extremely effective against Arraun.
Nowadays many a weaponmaster would eagerly recommend an energy halberd as a most effective weapon for a trained combatant. Having the same long reach as a spear it allows for both slashing and piercing attacks and becomes invaluable for a solo meleer battling a havily armed opponent. The halberd is also quite handy when defending oneself from a group of surrounding enemies. These are the advantages but like any other weapon it also has certain drawbacks: First of all this weapon is also quite slow? cumbersome and heavy. When carried it occupies a lot of space in your inventory. To wield it one should have a really good phisique too.
That is why The Halberd is mostly used by professional mercenaries and the city guard.
During the great war generals of both armies have ordered unique energy halberds from World famous Zwerg weaponsmiths. It took years to forge these wonderful weapons and very rare materials have been used in the process. Such unique Energy halberds are being handed by father to son through generations and cost fortunes.
Energy spears
Energy spear is surely the most ancient kind of energy weapons descendednt directly from the magic staves. In the beginning of great war this weapon has become quite popular. This popularity grew all the more for the relative cheapness of the weapon. Energy spears have only been used in closed combat and so only the weaker energy crystals, inadequate for casters and spellguns went into the forge to make an energy spear. i
Energy spears have gradually become the main weapon of regular infantry - the main military unit in both opposing forces. Even after a seemingly light training a cohort of spear wielding infantry became a formidable force.
Of all the races - Lizards liked energy spear the most since this weapon was traditionally used by them in hunting wild beasts. Kelebras also respect the energy spear treating it as a symbol of comabatant's honor. Sidhe aristocrasy however treated the weapon with disgust even - considering that only the lowborn were bound to wield it not being able to afford a proper blade...
However the Energy spear has a lot of davantages: It is long and helps to keep the enemy at bay, dealing serious magical + piercing damage. It takes more dexterity rather then strength to wield and last but not least the energy crystal is easily replaceable? changing the type of damage it deals. This weapon can be recommended to both army soldiers and travellers or even peasants.
The only serious drawback (same foe all polearms) is that it's a rather cumbersome weapon and one can never wear it discreetly. For this reason the energy is a lot more popular in the country then in big cities these days...
