Mates here's somethig I wanted to discuss with you all... As you know WELL online is going to have a certain amount of faction based PvP and the RP side also revolves around two factions: wellonline.proboards99.com/index.cgi?board=lore&action=display&thread=1191496207The Alliance of the three is a military union of rather aggressive races but still it's not the same as the Horde in Wow... The Wellana confederation is a natural economic and political union of 4 races that have ages of cooperation behind them... This is more of a political issue not really tied to race because there are many known cases (in the lore) of the representatives of those races known to be in the alliance of the three actually working for the Wellana Confederation. I'd call it Citizenship rather than factions cause these are in fact formed countries with their own laws and more or less precise borders. My idea is this: Why not have the Atysian refugees all on the sameside of the barricades (politically) no matter what race they pick. We have been kami and kara on Atys, we had our differences but the last months of slow death have kinda flattaned them out and it's better to stay that way. So what i propose is we all pick the same side (Wellana Confederation for example) and enjoy the RP unity as well as Ryzomean Nostalgia together What you all think of this?

QFE, but I think you answered the question anyway. I was gonna ask if one would be restricted faction-wise by one's choice of race, WoW style, but it would seem that is not the case. Lets hope so. As for your suggestion of all us Atysian refugees landing on the same side - that makes a lot of sense to me, united as we are (or seem to be) now by a natural closeness of mutual loss, kami and kara alike. Obviously there will be those who won't want to, but that ofc is down to the choice of the individual. However we have all got to know each other a bit better since the 2nd bankruptcy and even more so since our regrouping on Aniro this last week or so and I think a united front in a new world would benefit us all So far, however I have not read of any major differences between the 2 factions - feel free to point to relevant posts if I have missed something. The kara/kami choice was biased by the individual's personal feelings of pro-tech vs tree-hugging type philosophies but I dunno if there will be any similar distinction between the factions in WELL. Another question is that of whether the factions will be totally segregated socially as they are in WoW or whether there will be open interaction when not actively engaged in FvF activities. I love the ideas mentioned in (i think) Boinged's posts about regional border conflicts springing up regardless of faction - the possibility of stirring up trouble between neighbouring regions within the same faction to the benefit of the other; propaganda, intelligence and counter-intelligence - in a player-driven storyline this could be really exciting One last point ( this post is a bit longer than I intended) - you mentined elsewhere that there are at least 20 guilds knocking around already in the russian forums. This is all well and good ( no pun intended) but presumably if the game is going international there will be an international (or english, etc) server, and those 20 guilds will not be present. I should probably post this elsewhere, but is WELL going to be properly advertised to an internatinal community or are we going to be playing on an almost empty server ot worse - a tiny backwater community on a russian server?

First of all we have been promised an International server on numerous occasions.
And it seems they just don't want to repeat the mistakes of Vanguard and such and have a half-finished game out...
However i can't say much more about international advertisement at this stage...
As for segregation - the answer is assuredly no - go whewrever you want, and as for the difference Alliance of three is a more agressive militaristic group - a military alliance. They don't care that much about economy and manufacturing, Wellana confederation on the other hand only havethe army cause they have to protect their borders, these guys are all about corporations and organisations and cooperation between allied races... basicly that's the main difference.
RP wise Wellana confederation are supposed to be a bit more tree-hugging but also quite arrogant and self-righteous whil alliance of three are more brutish and rogue-like while less complex and still caring about honor...
That was my impression at least...

Hmmm, well, leaning slightly towards the Wellana Confederation then for my part. I dunno what (if any) the crafting system will be like in WELL, but that has been the major part of my enjoyment of Ryzom. Which isn't to say I don't enjoy bashing the brains out of some harmless wildlife as much as the next homin, nor that the Alliance don't indulge in an occasional bit of manufacturing i imagine ...

I've already decided to be a Zwerg, so the choice is natural for me. Some may like the more aggressive stance of the Alliance, though, and I can't fault that. I've never let faction stand in the way of friendship anyway. In Ryzom I had a blast chatting with my Kamist friends even as they struck me down...again...and again...
I look forward to playing with, against, or just around my dear friends, and also to making many new friends. Although it looks like many from Ryzom will land here, we will also get to add many new people to our transplanted family as well. Or so we can hope.

I have decided to be a Sidhe healer... And yes there will be quite a bit on crafting - gotta dig that up... Ah there you go mates fresh from the oven: wellonline.proboards99.com/index.cgi?board=mech&action=display&thread=1202240235That's all we know about crafting so far. But Wellana confederation will have civ -specific player+npc organisations giving additional quests and missions to lvl in the fields of manufacturing and production so that is quite naturally where my choice will lie. After all OOTN was and allways will be a crafters guild...
